Hi, Heather! I have been meaning to email you since starting over here but it has been CRAZY busy with orientation, registration, and trying to fight my way out of the general cluelessness of the first weeks at a new job. The baptism by fire has been great, though, because I really feel like part of the team and I am loving it. You know, of course, that I got a different position than the one I initially thought I was interviewing for, but it is much better suited to me so I am really happy with the way things worked out!

How are the wedding plans coming along? I think I am going to start a group for step-parents on our ning site!!

Hey........just joined. Don't have much to blog about except the new postal rate effective 12May. Seems as if the PO is going up every May now. Now it is because of fuel. Cut out Saturday delivery and they would save. Congratulations by the way...couldn't wait for me huh?

Bloggin in the course is a great idea . . . I'll have to research how to do that. ;-) Students seem to be enjoying the weekly podcasts, and I also tested doing group Web video speeches using ooVoo. Technology is so exciting!

Nine years? Wow! I've enjoyed working at Brenau for nine years in the areas of online education and information technology. I'm always eager to see new tools, especially if they're easy to use and can serve a real purpose. I see Ning serving a great purpose for Brenau in that it allows COMMUNICATION. Let's use it to its fullest advantage...we're figuring out what that is together! Isn't this fun? :-) Got married at Jekyll Island in October 2008. What a wonderful experience!

Textbooks for D2, D2X and D2Y

Online students who have not yet purchased a textbook for second session classes, please check with our new bookstore, Barnes & Noble, on Friday to see if the book for that class are in. We have begun phoning all Brenau students learning online during the first week to see that they are settled into their online classes. We're asking them whether they have their textbooks and if they have any questions for us or other offices on campus. A New Face in Online Studies

This summer, a new face will join the Online Studies area: Ms. Jill Fitzgerald.

Ms. Jill Fitzgerald will be joining Online Studies as the new Online Faculty Coordinator. Jill, who worked in student affairs at Brenau University for five years, also brings with her vast experience working with online faculty and students while most recently at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ. Blackboard Enterprise -- Fall Semester

It looks like we'll be purchasing a server soon and are hoping to see a contract in the next few days for the Enterprise license. Even with this early start, it will be fall semester before we're able to deploy. In the interim, IT will install the new program, migrate all of the data we need, and receive training for the administrators to run it.
