Here's an interesting article on a new service called Chegg that offers to help students by allowing them to rent (rather than buy) textbooks. From the examples given, it seems could be capable of cutting their book costs in half (or more!).
One question does come to mind though: What if you decide you want to KEEP a book? According to the website you can opt to pay for the replacement cost of the book and keep if it you like.
Do you have any thoughts of feelings about this service? Be sure to post them here so we can discuss.
I've thought of renting my own books to students. I know, as do many, firsthand of the high costs for texts. You think we could start our own "Brenau" rental group with students & former students (graduates) offering the same thing?
